Computer Science for Cultural Heritage: innovative mobile and 3D services for tourism

The protection and enhancement of cultural heritage are recurrent objectives in European, national and local policies, which are activated for the promotion of actions aimed at the redevelopment of local resources and it is known that modern information technology now provide more and more tools. adequate, that allow to acquire, store, use data for the creation, management and dissemination of information, opening new prospects of knowledge and promotion.
Even in Friuli Venezia Giulia has been operating for years, driven by the need for renewal in the objectives and tools, to increase knowledge, ensure conservation and improve the use - by the tourist and the citizen - of the important cultural heritage that characterizes the Region.
However, there remains ample room for the optimization of results: the potential for development that are identified leads us to proceed promptly to the search for more functional applications to a modern exploitation of cultural heritage as a resource for the development of the territory in a touristic and economic sense.

The project involves the creation of a complex Information System capable of recovering and integrating existing instruments and systems, and together developing new functions for the management, protection, enhancement and use of the historical, artistic and archaeological heritage of the Friuli Venezia Giulia.
