Friuli Innovazione: trained 2,100 entrepreneurs, created 60 companies and more than 230 jobs. But not enough!

  • 25 June 2018

Soplaya, the first digital market where chefs buy directly from local producers; Vires, with its innovative electric lawn mowers; Foxwin, the web platform that transforms workers' ideas into innovation projects; Sunreport, with the software that monitors the photovoltaic systems.

These are just some of the startups that have chosen to entrust their growth path to the certified incubator of Friuli Innovazione, which since 2005 (the year of its foundation)  has played a fundamental role in the affirmation of new business realities on the territory .

The numbers speak for themselves: almost 800 registered business ideas, more than 250 business plans supported, 2,100 aspiring entrepreneurs trained, 3,000 hours of consulting provided, 21 registered patents, over 60 companies and more than 230 jobs created.
All this is made possible both by consulting and by the free support offered by professional orders, professionals and associations (such as the business angels of Unicorn trainers Club), and by funds provided by national and European projects to which Friuli Innovazione participates.

"Friuli Innovazione embodies a project of self-sustainability and autonomy in the procurement of the resources necessary to provide the territory with the greatest possible number of services - says the president Germano Scarpa -. Activities such as support for business ideas and startups, entrepreneurship education and international networking are offered to the territory that benefits from it for free, because Friuli Innovazione is able to procure its resources by participating in competitive tenders. It is not possible to continue in this way if we want to affect the territory - continues Scarpa -. We need a common vision, starting with the members of Friuli Innovazione and a direction of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia: a real policy that combines startups and SMEs to accelerate innovation and competitiveness of companies. We know how to do it, but if we must continue to procure autonomously the resources to put these projects to the ground, we will never be able to influence either the economy or the real development of our territory.".

It is dedicated to startups, for example, EEsAA – Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Alpe Adria, a project worth over € 1 million 200 thousand realized under the Interreg Italy-Austria 2014-2020 Program. The EEsAA business ecosystem is aimed at connecting entrepreneurial hubs and local start-ups in a cross-border cluster, where technology parks, universities, incubators and co-working play a central role in the joint promotion of the Alpe Adria entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Interreg Italia-Slovenia project CAB - Accelerator of Italian-Slovenian cross-border companies(total value of 1.3 million euro) promoted by Friuli Innovazione together with the Slovenian business accelerator ABC, works instead to define an acceleration program that the most competitive companies on international markets. The distinctive and original element is the cross-border approach, used to develop business tools to offer startups and innovative SMEs to exploit the peculiarities of the two markets: Slovenia as a test market and Italy as a scale up market.
