Michele Morgante, Scientific Director of the Institute of Applied Genomics IGA, located in Friuli Innovazione, participates in the event Science and the City.
The scientific event in Trieste, in its fourth edition, has scheduled the appointment in Udine "Pills in the city", on October 23 at Palazzo D'Aranco. Participation is free subject to availability.

Michele Morgante will participate in the "Manipulating the genes" conference and will speak on the applications of genetic modification in the agricultural field, discussing the scientific, social and economic relevance surrounding the problem of the new GMOs.

The IGA participates in important DNA sequencing projects of some plants, including the project co-funded by the ClinGen FVG Region.
Not only that, a recent research conducted with a US center on the corn genome, has given a fundamental contribution in developing technologies that are now widely used in plant genomics.

Michele Morgante is also a professor at the University of Udine and president of the Italian Society of Agricultural Genetics and a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. In 2005 he received the Medal for the Physical and Natural Sciences of the Academy of Sciences. Very active in Europe in the field of plant genomics, he is an expert in the applications of precise genetic editing techniques to obtain new generation food plants.
