Develop a monitored corridor between the Interport and the Port of Trieste that could result in an extension of the port dock to the Fernetti area: a new prototype of port extension, which will enable the Trieste-Fernetti Interport to act in full continuity with the Port of Trieste, increasing the operational capabilities of the entire Regional Logistics System.

This is the goal of Fer-Net, a unique project of its kind in Italy because it combines two free points (Interporto and Porto). Fer-Net is part of recent trends that are revolutionizing the concept of port, leading to its extension to interports connected to it, to incorporate them.

Co-financed by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region with over € 120,000 in the Por Fesr 2014-2020, Fer-Net involves Info.era Srl (Circle group) and Interporto di Trieste Spa, with the Trieste Port System Authority as final user, the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Trieste as a scientific partner and the consulting support of Thrive Srl. The project coordination, dissemination and dissemination of the results of Fer-Net is carried out by Friuli Innovazione.

“Con Fer-Net -dichiara Matteo Bradaschia di Info.era- l’Interporto sarà in grado di operare come un terminal portuale, riuscendo di fatto a trasferire i gate di ingresso dal Porto di Trieste all’interno delle nuove aree attrezzate presso l’Interporto e riuscendo a gestire i mezzi in movimento sui 18 chilometri di superstrada che separano le due strutture, come se continuassero a trovarsi in area portuale. In questo modo -continua Bradaschia- l’Autorità di Sistema Portuale di Trieste potrà gestire il flusso dei mezzi che passeranno per l’Interporto stesso prima di essere imbarcati”.

Proprio la maggiore scorrevolezza del traffico di mezzi pesanti, con conseguente riduzione dell’impatto ambientale, rappresenterà uno dei risultati principali del progetto. Grazie a Fer-Net, infatti, si potrà ottenere l’aumento dell’efficienza e la riduzione della congestione ai punti di controllo, unitamente alla più efficace raccolta di informazioni su mezzi, merci e persone in transito.
