SPATA: presented the final results

  • 29 July 2018

On Friday 29 June, at the Port of Trieste, the final results of the SPATA project were presented.

Co-financed by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region as part of the Por Fesr 2014-2020, SPATA (Automatic Profiling System of Transportation in the Port Area), has developed an innovative system based on laser scanner technology that detects the profiles of vehicles in transit. Located at the entrance to port areas, the system allows you to have real-time directions on the vehicles entering and on the loads they transport.
SPATA is in fact able to automatically identify parameters such as number and type of vehicles in transit, dimensions of vehicles and their loads; it also detects vehicle shapes and traces ISO codes of containers.

The SPATA experimentation activities were instead carried out at the Port of Trieste, whose collaboration allowed to place the SPATA system in the area of entry of the vessels in port. In this way the Port Authority was able to receive in real time the data of the vehicles in transit and, in a second time, to elaborate statistical analyzes on port activities.
