Excellent results of the research and development of the NUMASTE project

New materials for fire safety in the naval environment, conducted by Naval Suppliers, a company specialized in the production of doors and windows in the naval and off-shore sector, in collaboration with Hayama Tech Service and University of Udine, and with the coordination of Friuli Innovazione. The NUMASTE project, co-financed by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region with a contribution of over 280,000 Euros under the POR FESR 2014-2020, has devised a new type of panel for the naval sector by combining new materials with materials never used in naval coatings. . The prototype created, after intense industrial research and experimental development, was tested for fire resistance at the RINA laboratories in Genoa, obtaining the A60 certification, one of the highest safety standards in the sector. "The performance of the prototype went beyond expectations, both in terms of resistance to high temperatures and fire resistance - comments the project manager of Naval Suppliers, who continues - The new panels, modular and with an improved coupling system, they will be widely used in cruise ships and ferries ". Having reached the project objectives concerning the research of new materials (insulators and glues) for the realization of internal coatings and the study of new constructive solutions of the coatings themselves, the NUMASTE team is still working to identify and experiment with the use of environmentally friendly materials in the realization of the panels.
