Thursday, July 12th from 15.00 will be held the presentation of the final results of the PollicIoT project, co-funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region as part of the Por Fesr.

The event is part of the conference "A solution dedicated to Alzheimer's patients: technology meets the community".

In Italy there are 1,241.00 people affected by dementia, 30,000 in the FVG Region, which, with their relatives, assistants and friends, benefit from many services and are constantly looking for people and organizations that are sensitive and alert to dementia. The term dementia is used to describe the conditions that lead to the progressive alteration of certain functions - of the brain, memory, thought, reasoning, language, orientation, planning skills and personality - that interfere with the daily acts of life.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia. It represents 50-60% of the cases. From the latest data from international studies, 75% of people with dementia and 64% of their family members report stigma and social exclusion that leads them to isolate themselves and not leave their homes. The National dementia plan approved with an agreement dated 30 October 2014 by the State-Regions Conference, provides strategic indications for interventions in the sector, both for what concerns the therapeutic aspect and the accompaniment of the patient and the relatives along the care path. We can all help them to live a better life. The point of view and the opinions of people with dementia and their family members must be taken into consideration.

It has been shown that if they received more attention and support in some activities such as: getting around, going shopping and running errands could have a more active role in their community and maintain a satisfying quality of life. It is essential to have a high level of public awareness of dementia and of what it entails in order to offer support and understanding to the people who suffer from it.
Today's event represents a moment of comparison on the experiences to be privileged in our Region.
