EUROSYN

EUROSYN is a project funded by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 program (Financing Contract No. 730806).

The overall objective of the project is to collaborate in the development of a common approach to better support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in innovation processes.
The project will be based on peer review activities to facilitate access to public funds for the Research, Development and Innovation sector, and for the definition of support programs for SMEs that make it possible to exploit synergies between structural funds, the program European Horizon 2020 and other European funds.

The basic idea of EUROSYN is to face the challenges of European SMEs in obtaining contributions to support their R & D & I activities during all phases of the innovation process, from research to the market. In this sense it is essential for the competitiveness of SMEs to be able to benefit in an effective and integrated manner of the various financing opportunities available.

Intermediary organizations, which offer support and assistance on funding opportunities for SMEs, play a fundamental role from two main points of view:

  • help policymakers to develop cooperation among the actors involved;
  • support SMEs in the correct use of public R & D & I funds.

Peer learning will be essential to transmit good and bad practices in support services for obtaining public funds from SMEs.

The resulting DOP (Design Options Paper) that will be set up will serve as a guide to other innovation agencies to provide improved business support services for the definition and research of funding opportunities.
