CONTAMINANT ABATEMENT STUDY

Current technologies for odor purification (thermal oxidation, biofiltration, filtration, adsorption, scrubbing) are not very advantageous from an economic point of view and are normally addressed to specific types of processes. The chemical adsorption technique applied to odor purification is among the innovative technologies in the field of odorigen pollution and has several advantages as it is aimed at a wider market and with a reasonably lower cost compared to current solutions. Furthermore, the types of treatable substances are numerous, in particular pollutants such as ammonia, hydrogen sulphide and mercaptans can be eliminated, considered as the most impacting and difficult to treat substances.

The new technology also has considerable facilities from the point of view of the plant compared to the state of the art, as the adsorption column is simple to size, installation and above all management. The dimensions of the system are contained and easy to carry and allow its placement in any emissive point and the easy replacement of the adsorbent product following its exhaustion. This technology is therefore addressed to a wide range of applications, such as sewage sludge lifting stations and sewage treatment plants, which are particularly problematic as regards unpleasant odors
