Artes aims to develop and implement new forms of tourism, where the turist is called to experience the content/the offer and to become the protagonist/the actor of its experience. There are Operators for experiential tourism, who properly trained according to the Artes Method, create, design, organize the offer/the experiences. Artès is a new specialization but also a method with well-defined traits and rules that guarantee standards and narrative rhythm to different stories.

The Società Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso was founded in Cividale del Friuli at the beginning of 1870, it was supposed to train and help young people to learn a new job. Since then the Association is involved in developing and communicating the history and past of the destination. It owns an important library and documentation (archives, fotos etc) of the past and it organizes special cultural events and exhibitions.

Archeoscuola is an association that organizes living lab for students in Cividale on the footsteps of the Lombards.

I Longobardi in Italia, a common heritage. I luoghi del potere-places of power (568-774 d.C.) this is the official Unesco attribution given to 7 Lombard archeological sites: Cividale del Friuli, Brescia, Castelseprio, Spoleto, Campello sul Clitumno, Benevento, Monte Sant’Angelo.

SMO (Slovensko multimedialno okno – Finestra multimediale slovena) is a museum that has been set up in San Pietro al Natisone within the project JEZIKLINGUA financed by the Cooperation Programma Italy Slovenia 2007 - 2013. It is designed as a dynamic space, based on communication and storytelling of the territory and places, it displays the landscape stretching from the Julian Alps to Trieste. It is a new concept of Museum, dinamic, using new technologies like talking library, interactive map, live painting and storytelling through images.

Topolò assotiation is famous for the event called "Topolò Station - Postaja Topolove" that touches varies views of art and communication: movies, design, photography, music, poetry, theatre. It's an international event lasting 4 day and carries out every year in July where many artists come from different countries of the world. The artists are accommodated in the small village of Topolò where they carry out a "participation" on the base of the stimuli receipts from the same place.

Historical Reharsal (historic reenachment) taking place every year since 1999. It is one of the most important events taking place in Cividale del Friuli, many tourists reach the destination to take part in the event.It lasts 4 days and is organized by the Tourism Office of the local administration in partnership with many local associations.

A local DMC (destination management company/a full service travel company) offering incoming packages and selling tour programmes to this area; it focuses on individual visitors and small groups that allow exclusive sightseeing and more personalized services.

In FVG Region there are eight guides’ Associations, all of them are promoted on the official website of PROMOTURISMO FVG and apart from the Associations there are free lance guides, more than 200. The Association enhances the use of B&B in Cividale del Friuli, founded some years ago it is now facing the competition of AIRBNB but it is still one of the most important accomodation association of the area.

A cooperative society of private houses giving accomodation to guests. This kind of accomodation was founded in FVG in the early ‘80 in order to protect and preserve the rural architecture: It gives tourist very “authentic” accomodation. It increased its visibility due to “Alpe Adria Trail” a walking path from Austria to Italy and Slovenia.

This local action group is appointed to implement the Local Development Strategy, to develop plans and projects in order to increase the visibility of the destination and/or to find out guidelines for new strategical tourism experience.

This tourist office is in charge of the promotion of the Natisone Valley, its aim and its task is to organize events, promote them and organize sighseeing tours. It works in partnership with Promoturismo FVG an GAL Valli del Torre e del Natisone (local action group). It is even in charge of the information office.

In a local level its role follows the footsteps of the regional FVG Tourism and Industry Department. It is more involved in local cultural and tourism events and projects. It is in charge of the UNESCO ITALIA LANGOBARDORUM site (teLOmbard Chapel) and works in partnership with the Assessorato alla Cultura Comune di Cividale del Friuli

Organisational unit for Culture, EU community policies, foreign relations. In a local level its role follows the footsteps of the regional Department of Culture. It is more involved in local cultural events and projects. It is in charge of the cultural heritage and works in partnership with the Assessorato al Turismo Municipality of Cividale del Friuli for the UNESCO site.

The association represents the needs and interests of hoteliers towards political, economic and trade union institutions and organizations. More than 27,000 hotels belong to Federalberghi out of a total of about 33,000, through 131 territorial associations. He is a founding member of Hotrec, the European Confederation of Hotels, Restaurants and Bars and joins Confcommercio, where he gave birth to Confturismo.

State Archives in Pazin is one of the organisational units of the Croatian archival service headed by the Croatian State Archives. Sttae Archives in Pazin provide you with rich written traces of Istrian history, inherited thanks to the care, effort and responsibility of ancestors. Their task is to cherish and safeguard the inherited cultural heritage in strict line with the highest moder standards applicable to this profession and to make them accessible to everyone.

The Community Center Rojc is located in the city center of Pula, in a building named after Karlo Rojc, a national hero of World War II. Being the largest building in town, it covers a surface area of 16.739 square meters, rectangular in shape with five floors, sports fields, free parking and an internal courtyard. Built in 1870 when Pula was occupied by Austro-Hungarian Empire, Rojc was a military school during three distinct periods of rule: Habsburg, Italian and Yugoslavian. Citizens from all over Istria gather in Rojc working on many diverse themes and activities, sometimes individually and sometimes jointly. Each of the 111 associations provide the local community with its program. Rojc yearly "produces" hundreds of activities, workshops, concerts, seven festivals etc. Statistically, Rojc is hosting around 1000 visitors per day.

The Historical and Maritime Museum of Istria – Museo storico e navale dell’Istria is a specialised museum of regional scope; a public, cultural and scientific institution that performs its museum activities in observance of the Museum Act and operates on the territory of the Istrian Region. The PPMI is located in a Venetian fortress – a XVII century castle that the authorities of the Venetian Republic built to defend their possessions in southern Istria. The activities of the PPMI comprise the collection, conservation and research of Istrian cultural and historical heritage from the Middle Ages to the present day. The holdings of the museum number over 100,000 objects of cultural, historical, political, military and ethnographic character, organized in 18 collections. Museum fundus has over 100,000 items of cultural, historical, political, military and ethnographic character, deployed in 18 collections. Since the end of 2009 the PPMI has established the Department of Pedagogy and Education which oversees the presentation of the Museum and bringing of the museum experience closer to different user groups.

The museum was established in 2008 and is housed in an Austro-Hungarian building dating back to 1862.The museum collects works of art created in the second half of last century until the latest work of recent artists. MCAI represents an open meeting place of multiculturalism and, above all, to be a leading cultural and art institution of Istrian artists. Exhibition space is placed in the old printing house in St. John Street 1, the Pula waterfront in town centre, next to Tito's Park. In the same building on the ground floor there is a Town Library.

Labin Art Express (L.A.E.) - independent underground cultural and art association, established in 1991, based in the ex-coal mine in Labin, Region of Istria, Croatia. In 1993 L.A.E., the first independent radio station in Croatia, closed by governmental decision in 1996, and in 1998 the international multimedia Cultural Centre "Lamparna" in one of abandoned ex-coal mine buildings. It was first step in realization of their capital project "Underground City XXI" construction and establishment of the first real futuristic underground town in the world, in abandoned tunnels and halls of ex-coal mine in Labin, 160 m below ground level, with streets, bars, restaurants, galleries, concert halls, children playground, swimming pool, Mueseum of Coal Mining, "red light" district, etc., with its own Government, Mayor, police and laws. L.A.E. is not a clannish group of artists whose creativity is esoteric, but an exoteric cultural and art association cooperating with artists and "non-artists" who share the fundamental idea that "art today must be: young, all-encompassing, universal, modern, fierce, moral, and synthetical."

Pula Fortification Tour originated as an idea of several enthusiasts and their great desire to preserve and revive the stories and places from the time when Pula was the main naval port of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Shipyard Uljanik was created during this period, there were over 100 boats anchored in the port, and the city was guarded by fifty mighty fortresses and more than 300 various artillery posts. The trip includes a tour of the forts Grosso, Valmaggiore, Zonchi and Punta Christo by a military truck and on foot through the pine forest with expert guidance of a guide and historian. It consists of a ride in a military truck from the parking lot at the railway station to the fort Grosso (Štinjan) during which the guide introduces the visitors to the period of Pula up to the arrival of Austrian rule, and the beginnings of the development of the naval port of Pula

Aquarium Pula is a destination that will attract children as well as adults. Alongside the aquarium display, that in a uniquely interesting and educational way presents natural and cultural history of Croatia, the aquarium setting itself is remarkable. Namely, its home is an Austro-Hungarian fort Verudela, built in 1886. and registered as a protected cultural heritage. The fort is in a constant process of revitalization starting in 2002. More than 1500 m2 of aquarium space and 5000m2 of outside area is adapted to suit the needs of the aquarium and the visitors. Most of the rooms have been used to display various exhibits, only the central part – the cannon block – and the moat surrounding the fort, 100 meters long and 10 meters wide, remain unused. Educational activities conducted in Aquarium Pula represent a unique offer to domestic and foreign school groups, but also a popularization of the need to protect marine habitats through educational tourism. Sea turtle rescue centre, a well known NGO, also found its home in Aquarium Pula. Persistently working on marine life preservation, the Centre has already initiated a number of original programs to protect sea turtles, those long-lived creatures that are currently among the most threatened in the world.

Istrian tourism development agency (IRTA) manages the Istria tourism board destination website - www.istra.com. Their everyday tasks cover continuous updates of all events in Istria from smaller to larger scale events (RedBull Air race, ATP tournament in Umag, concerts in the Amphitheater etc). RTA's employees manage Istria's social media channels - mainly, facebook, twitter and instagram. A part of online advertising and performances are also being monitored by IRTA's employees. All this is done in close cooperation with the Istria Tourism Board, Istria Country Department of Tourism, hotel companies and local tourist boards. IRTA took part in the Hotspot Croatia Free Wifi project funded by Ministry of Tourism and the Istria County. Almost a 100 Wifi hotspots were put in operation during the 2-year project development and it still shows its sustainability. Another department within IRTA is the Bike&Outdoor department. Their job is to help organize and promote sporting events dealing with outdoor, cycling, trekking etc. Brochures and maps are being printed under their watchful eye, trails marked and educations carried out.

Metamedia encourages artistic and cultural initiatives in the field of new media arts & technologies. They are a non-profit organization that develops youth culture by organizing research, education, production, presentation and promotion on a national and international level. The association was established in 2001 (12th June) with the goal to develop audio visual arts, multimedia, culture, and to improve the quality of life of youth through educative, cultural and other activities. In the last 15 years the association played an important role in the development of non-institutional education, youth culture and active youth participation through media & art projects. Main goal are: to improve conditions for production of young authors and their publishing in the field of new media arts and technologies, to strenghten the non-institutional education for youth in the field of new media arts and practices, to develop media literacy and information as prerequisites for the development of a democratic society, to foster the citizen participation in the policy-making process in the field of independent culture and youth policy, etc.

The Batana Eco-museum through its varied research programmes based on knowledge, respect for cultural heritage and dialogue, inclusion, innovation, its interdisciplinary approach and use of multimedia evaluates, protects, interprets, recreates, presents and communicates tangible and intangible maritime heritage and actively reinforces the cultural identity and uniqueness of Rovinj. The Eco-museum’s mission and main goals are conveyed and implemented through its principal elements: The House of Batana, local title muòstra, the central interpretation and documentation centre with a permanent exhibition; Spacio Matika, local title spàcio, the place to experience the tastes, smells and the singing of the local maritime heritage; Mali Škver (Little Shipyard), local title peîcio squèro, the place to celebrate the intangible heritage of the batana’s construction; Rovinj’s regatta (known simply as Regata) of traditional wooden boats with mainly lateen sails, Rovinj’s main celebration of boats, the sea and sailors; The Batana Way from the Mail Mol (Little Pier) to Spacio Matika and Rovinj’s waterfront, two thematic routes – the first by sea accompanied by barkarioli (boatmen), and the second a stroll along the waterfront, where visitors learn about and experience Rovinj from the ‘batana perspective’.

ISTRIAN de Dignan - ECOMUSEUM was established to improve the local quality of life, promoting the values of cooperation, work and solidarity between the members and the local community. Ecomuseum encourages research, cultivation, preservation and promotion of historical rural cultural heritage, especially in agriculture, through the valorisation of the local products in order to create a distinctive cultural and tourist identity of Vodnjan as a destination rich in local, natural products. Ecomuseum sees as its mission the protection and revitalization of tangible and intangible rural heritage, including traditional tools, crafts, art and historical wooden carts as well as draft animals. Maintenance and cultivation of land, restoration of derelict or abandoned buildings and agricultural areas, preservation of native varieties and biological diversity are relevant for the association as well. Istrian de Dignana - Econuseum is divided into three principal structures: the House of Tradition - "Museum of the local culture", the Didactic farm - "Museum of rural culture" and the Ecolab - "Museum of local products.

The underground tunnels of Pula, Zerostrasse, stretch below almost entire Pula. They were built during the WW1 for sheltering people in case of air raids. The underground tunnel system consisted of shelters, trenches, galleries and passages, as well as ammunition storages and communication passages. Each hill in the town's core was drilled and dug up, thus creating an extended tunnel network. The tunnels of Monte Zaro, Monte Ghiro and the Castel are the largest. The underground tunnels below the Castle alone could take about 6000 people, while the capacity of all shelters in Pula was more than 50,000 people, the number almost equal to the number of town's inhabitants. Such a capacity was achieved as a result of the permanent expansion of the tunnel network under the Italian rule and the continuous building of the fallout shelters during the WW2. One part of the tunnel is used today for holding various cultural and social events, from exhibitions to parties.

The stone castle Grimani, the best preserved castle on the peninsula of Istria and the largest Svetvinčenat building, stretches over almost the entire north side of Placa. The castle used to be the destination for tradesmen, soldiers, aristocracy guests and travel writers, and today it attracts curious passer-bys and tourists. The castle is today one of the most beautiful Venetian buildings of that time in Istria. On its three corners there are three towers, and the fourth is the palace for gentlemen and a flat for the captain. From these towers all four entrances to the town were controlled. Above the entrance there is the castle’s coat of arms, which is the present coat of arms of Svetvinčenat and coat of arms of family Grimani di San Luca. The castle had a large yard, an apartment for the town steward, a warehouse for payments in kind and ammunition, rooms for 200 musketeers and lancers and a very safe prison – under the ground. In the 19th century the Grimani family made the castle over the bishops, and they gave it to the municipality early last century. In the World War II the castle was burnt one more time.

Cape Kamenjak is a wonderful nature park located on the Premantura peninsula on the southern tip of Istria. Close to Pula as well as some of the other resort towns in the area, the park is an excellent and relaxing way to spend a day and is highly recommended. With an unusual landscape, miles of rugged coastline and beaches to enjoy, coves and caves to explore, a quirky ‘safari bar’ and even some animals to (hopefully!) see, it’s definitely worth an outing. Lovely coves and beaches, as well as crystal-clear sea make this area a particularly attractive destination. Although camping is not allowed in this area, there are various other opportunities for visitors to enjoy the beauties of Kamenjak. One of the marked Istrian bike tracks passes here, and since it is not demanding, everyone can enjoy the easy ride and magnificent views. Or one can also spend the entire day walking and discovering the beauties of Kamenjak.

Baredine cave is a real treasure of stalactites and stalagmites, underground sculptures created by patient and long lasting work of water. Because of its uniqueness the cave was declared a monument of nature and it has been opened for visitors since 1995. The exhibitions with about fifty oldtimer tractors, as well as the story about the Mediterranean trilogy – wheat threshing and bread, olive oil and wine are closely linked to the history of this area and its people. Along with these exhibitions, the central part is an area, where various other exhibitions are presented and the wine cellar where guest can savor authentic products of this area. An interesting detail of this adventureous trip is also the encounter with the underground world of animals: visitors will see the cave olm (Proteus anguinus), endeme of the Dinaric karst area. Besides visiting the cave, visitors can enjoy various additional facilities, such as a training ground for speleo climbing, geomorphological pillar, events and much more!

The project on “Parenzana – the Route of Health and Friendship” started on 3 April 2006 and ended on 3 June 2008. The main objectives of the project were the revitalization of the former Parenzana railroad, integrated tourist offer and long-term cross-border cooperation. The objectives were achieved through the restoration of approximately 60 kilometres of the route, which until then had not been in use, from the Slovenia-Croatian border to Vižinada on the territory of the Municipalities of Vižinada, Karojba, Motovun, Oprtalj and Grožnjan, and the Towns of Buje and Umag. The route was transformed into a path for pedestrians and cyclists, viaducts and bridges secured with guard rails and tunnels lit by solar lighting. A small multimedia museum, dedicated to Parenzana, was arranged at Livade and the route got its own innovative research game – the Parenzana Code. At the same time, the Slovenian Partners arranged about 20 kilometres of the route in the territory of the Republic of Slovenia.

The Brijuni Islands or Brijuni archipelago are today one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Croatia. This archipelago consists of a group of islands off the western coast of Istria, which together with the surrounding waters was proclaimed a national park in 1983. The islands are only 6 km from Pula and separated from the mainland by Fažana Channel, with a regular daily boat service from the nearby Fažana port. The Brijuni Islands comprise two larger islands – Veliki and Mali Brijun, as well as 12 smaller and exceptionally indented islands that have been inhabited since prehistoric times. Brijuni are well known for their mild Mediterranean climate with plenty of sun and humidity, which is ideal for the lush vegetation and pleasant stay on the islands. Brijuni are the ideal choice for guests seeking accommodation of the highest category and the best offer of additional facilities.

The Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Istria was founded by Istrian winemakers in cooperation with Istria County in 1994 in Poreč.. Vinistra is not just the local products exhibition, but an event implying professional wine tastings, presentations and topic meetings as well. Apart from Istrian winemakers, there are also Slovenian, Italian and Hungarian colleagues who take part in the competitions. The judge panel, chosen as in other similar world events, consists both of professionals as well as people who simply like and enjoy wine and who find it very precious for their work. The main purpose of the exhibition is the wine quality testing while other different off-programs make Vinistra even more interesting. This high-quality event unites a record number of wine exhibitors in one place for a few days and makes possible the education and further development of the wine regarding knowledge. Vinistra became the major exhibition of that kind in Croatia and its ever growing significance confirms the number of the exhibitors coming from the whole country of Croatia as well as from abroad.

Medea wines - young winery in the suburbs of Pula. They are young team bound by the love for two things, wine and Istria. Istrian Wine Run is intended for professional athletes but also for amateurs who for the first time want to try something similar. The streets of Vodnjan still strongly evoke the past: from the Gothic palace of the Bettica counts and faces engraved in the stone facades, to decorations made of wrought iron on the wells and the wooden engraved doors of important palaces and the elegant Church of St. Mary of Carmel (built in 1630). The large People Square in the centre of the town denotes the old place where a castle with towers was built probably in the 4th or the 5th century and torn down in 1808.

This is the initiative of the Association Drugodid, whose main activities include the organization and management of the Dry Stone workshops and the conduction of the drywall heritage research, and the Agricultural Cooperative Dolčina, which is the holder of the development of wine growing in Bakar Dry Stone Walls.

Kvarner Trails is the series, which combines four trail running races promoting Kvarner region and its natural areas, local community and people, their history, tradition and cultural heritage with the aim of developing a sustainable forms of tourism with all the benefits, both for the local community, as well as for the region itself.

Rijeka Summer Nights is a summer musical-theatrical festival held in Rijeka. The program is very rich, ranging from classical drama to street performances. It is intended to create an ambient theatre in well-known or unknown parts of the city of Rijeka. During the festival, the Rijeka squares and terraces are turned into open stages, and in order to improve the industrial architecture and theaters, parts of the program are also run in the abandoned factory halls. The festival is organized by Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka in cooperation with the City of Rijeka, Ministry of Culture, Kvarner County.

Učka Nature Park encompasses Mount Učka and a part of the Ćićarija mountain range. It is located along the northern Adriatic coast at one of the most northerly points of the Mediterranean, right where Istria meets the continental part of Croatia.
